Classes at Bakersfield College resume next week as well but according to college officials, there won't be as many students this year as in the past. The Bakersfield Californian reports fewer students are enrolling and state budget cuts are the reason. There are fewer courses available making it harder for students to get in. The paper reports about 16,400 students were enrolled at BC as of last week, about 10 percent less than last fall. Governor Jerry Brown has warned that 300 million dollars will be cut from community colleges if voters don't pass his tax initiative in November.
