When Morgan Burke submitted his annual budget to the Purdue Board of Trustees in March, the athletic department was facing a potential $1.57 million deficit for the 2012-13 school year. However, that’s no longer the case. The Big Ten’s dean of athletic directors said the 2011-12 year finished with a $750,000 surplus, and the athletic department recently received $1 million from the Big Ten as part of the league’s revenue-sharing agreement with the BTN. Burke said $500,000 of the $750,000 surplus will be spent to fix the Lambert Fieldhouse roof.
