Chico State students face limits on number of courses they can take - BEN MULLIN, Orovillemr

Most Chico State University students have been prevented from taking more than 18 units this fall semester, a cap imposed by the university to free up classes in the wake of repeated budget cuts. "This is all attributable to the shrinking budget," said Meredith Kelley, the vice provost for enrollment management at Chico State. "We've never done this before." Under the current policy, non-graduating students -- students with fewer than 90 units completed -- were allowed to register for 16 units during the priority registration period in the spring, Kelley said.
