Hocking College faces $4.3 million budget shortfall - ARIAN SMEDLEY, The Logan Daily News

A $4.3 million shortfall in the budget at Hocking College has prompted the school to turn to workforce reductions, according to a letter from the college’s president sent Sunday night. According to the letter, the layoffs could begin as soon as Oct. 1. When contacted Monday, Hocking College officials could not provide any additional information about how many jobs or people would be affected. But Gina Fetty, vice president of financial services, said the positions will be evaluated campus-wide. In the letter — which was obtained after a public records request — Hocking College President Ron Erickson wrote that with the first semester fully underway, “we are now able to more accurately determine the impact that our Summer and Autumn enrollment declines have had on the FY13 operational budget. Unfortunately, the news is not good.”
