South Carolina State University is still looking for cuts to help pay for a $6 million deficit. The university hasn't passed a budget yet. It was supposed to happen two and a half months ago, but SC State still hasn't found a way to cut spending. The board's budget committee met on Tuesday to decide on what gets cut. After several hours of discussion, the committee could only identify about $2 million to cut by firing personnel. That leaves another $4 million to come up with. The university is looking at cutting majors, changing football conferences, and even the possibility of cutting some sports and the university's marching band. Finance director Eric Eaton's job over the next couple of weeks is to figure out who to fire to help balance the university's budget.
