Pasadena City College schisms run deep - Joe Piasecki, Pasadena Sun

At Pasadena City College, they can’t all just get along. The chaos that erupted during Wednesday’s board of trustees meeting arose from long-simmering tensions that reached a boil after a minor glitch in meeting protocol. Students pound on windows yelling "let them speak" during a Pasadena City College meeting on Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Budget cuts are driving tensions between students, administrators and faculty. Students upset about losing classes to state budget cuts have accused board members of curbing free speech and increasing police presence at meetings. Members of PCC’s faculty union, often present during student actions opposing class cuts, are locked in a bitter contract dispute with college administrators.
