Due to Budget Crises, Georgia Perimeter College Cancels Fall Graduation - JONATHAN SHAPIRO, WABE
The fallout from Georgia Perimeter College’s budget crises continues. The two-year school has been forced to cancel its fall graduation ceremony. The 800 or so students eligible to graduate actually learned there’d be no ceremony back in September. Since then, David Schick, a fall graduate, as well as the editor-in-chief of the school newspaper, has led a student campaign aimed at pressuring the adminstration to reconsider. “This is a big deal because a lot of them in their own generations haven’t even had people graduate ever and so this would be their first degree, their first ceremony where they can walk across the stage and it means a lot to them.”
