Texas Tech library budget cut by almost $1 million - BRITTANY HOOVER, AVALANCHE-JOURNAL

Texas Tech University Libraries is one of many aspects of higher education facing budget cuts. But a decrease in students’ library fees has slashed the libraries budget by almost $1 million, said Donald Dyal, Tech’s dean of libraries. He spoke to the university’s Faculty Senate about the library budget Nov. 14. “The effect of the cut is probably invisible to most of you this year. If it persists, it will not be invisible next year,” Dyal told the group. “... There is almost no money in maintenance and operations, so we don’t repair things that go bad. They just stay the way they are. We’ve had to cut the book budget.” http://lubbockonline.com/local-news/2012-11-22/texas-tech-library-budget-cut-almost-1-million
