State budget cuts hit home - Mary Ellen Godin, Record-Journal

The emergency budget cuts hit the state’s social services safety net, public colleges and universities particularly hard. The state college and university system, which includes the Meriden Center of Middlesex Community College, will lose $14 million in the next six months. “At the present time, the community colleges are reducing their general funds by 5 percent through June,” said Marlene Olson, director of marketing and communications at Middlesex. “They’re doing everything they can to be sure that impact to students is minimal.” http://www.myrecordjournal.com/local/article_a695962e-41b1-11e2-91ea-001a4bcf887a.html
