Cuesta College wrapping up cost-saving light updates - Lauren Foreman, Lompoc Record

Cuesta College and Pacific Gas and Electric Co. are combining conservation and cost-saving measures to replace T12 fluorescent light fixtures and save the college nearly $1.1 million in electricity costs through 2027. Work on the $425,000 lighting project that began in November is expected to be completed this month at Cuesta College's San Luis Obispo campus. PG&E officials estimate that lighting accounts for 30 percent of energy consumption in retail businesses and professional offices. Cuesta administrators have scoured the college’s budget for cost-saving opportunities to address fiscal stability. Earlier this month the college’s board of trustees finalized 10 program cuts and changes to 12 programs to trim an estimated $806,000 from the school’s budget. http://www.lompocrecord.com/news/local/education/cuesta-college-wrapping-up-cost-saving-light-updates/article_b1ee42a4-50c1-11e2-af9f-0019bb2963f4.html
