FSCJ talks budget cust - Adam Kealoha Causey, Kate Howard Perry, The Times-Union

Costly financial aid problems and a larger-than-predicted drop in enrollment have Florida State College at Jacksonville leaders grappling with proposed budget cuts for the remainder of the fiscal year. Steve Bowers, vice president of administrative services, said the 2012-13 budget was prepared for 4 percent fewer students. But enrollment actually dropped 10 percent, and the lost revenue from student fees totals $5.7 million. Pell Grant mistakes also will cost about $1.7 million than initially budgeted. To fill the holes, Bowers has proposed cutting expenses by eliminating 35 open positions and cutting part-time employee hours — potentially reducing operating hours for student services. http://jacksonville.com/news/florida/2012-12-27/story/fscj-talks-budget-cuts
