Budget crunch could mean higher tuition at Daytona State - Linda Trimble, News-Journal

Daytona State College students may face higher tuition bills as college officials look to balance their budget in light of a state funding reduction and continuing drop in enrollment. That's one of the options President Carol Eaton mentioned Friday as college trustees discussed a wide range of issues at a four-hour retreat, including a possible three-year extension of Eaton's contract. The college will be left with a "significant gap" in its budget for the year that starts July 1, Eaton said, partly because of a $1.5 million reduction in state funding to help pay for daily operations. That's a 3 percent drop from last year's state funding toward the current $94 million budget, Eaton said. http://www.news-journalonline.com/article/20130510/NEWS/305109962?Title=Budget-crunch-could-mean-higher-tuition-at-Daytona-State
