University of Calgary announces more budget cuts - Tamara Elliott, Global News
The University of Calgary continues to make budget cuts, as it deals with a $40 million cut in provincial government funding. On Wednesday, the school announced in a town hall meeting that 200 student positions will be eliminated, by the start of the next school year. This is in addition to 30 student positions in nursing and 15 in medicine, that were previously announced. The University still hasn’t decided how the cuts will be made but it might look at eliminating certain programs. It also expects to get rid of 50 professor positions through retirement and attrition.
