University of Regina passes balanced budget, but tuition going up 4.4 per cent - THE CANADIAN PRESS
Students at the University of Regina will spend more to study next year. The university's board of governors approved its 2013-14 operating budget of $187 million Tuesday. It says the province gave the university a 1.9 per cent increase to its operating grant for the year, as well as $800,000 for the third year of the nursing program. Board chairman Paul McLellan says tuition increases, combined with internal budget reductions, allowed the board to pass a balanced budget. Undergraduates will pay 4.4 per cent more for tuition, while masters and PhD students will pay 10 per cent more, except for those in the graduate schools of business and public policy.
