Budget shortfall puts - Amy Smart, Times-Colonist

Administrators are optimistic about the future of Camosun College’s music program, but with a potential closure still on the table, student Zoe Clint has more at stake than most. Clint, 21, took a leave from the program when her mother Cynthia Vaughan was diagnosed with terminal cancer in January. She promised Vaughan, who died March 15, that she would return. “My mom was really encouraging. She said, ‘You have to at least try to go into music, to try to sing,’ ” Clint said. “I miss her and one of the things she wanted me to do was to be able to return.” Both Camosun College and Victoria Conservatory of Music representatives said they’re optimistic about a proposal going before the board Monday night that would reduce the program’s budget but keep it alive. http://www.timescolonist.com/budget-shortfall-puts-camosun-s-music-program-at-risk-1.1019494
