University tuitions a likely political flashpoint in Florida - Lloyd Dunkelberger , Herald-Tribune

The rising cost of tuition at Florida universities is likely to be one of the flashpoints in the governor’s race this year. After vetoing a 3 percent increase last year and backing legislation to end automatic tuition hikes this year, Gov. Rick Scott has likened tuition increases to tax hikes. He has also slammed his likely Democratic opponent, former Gov. Charlie Crist, for letting tuition rise by nearly 50 percent during his tenure. But Scott also allowed an 8 percent tuition hike in his first year and tuition rates have risen by more than 24 percent since he took office in January 2011. http://politics.heraldtribune.com/2014/06/08/university-tuitions-likely-political-flashpoint/
