Cochise College relies on local dollars in new budget - Adam Curtis, Herald/Review

The projected decline of 12.2 percent shown on the state-produced budget forms does not reflect the numbers used by the college to plan the budget. At a budget work session in April, Cochise College President J.D. Rottweiler said staff is projecting a 3 percent decline in enrollment to be conservative but actually expects it to stay flat. He said that numbers used in the budget forms likely should be updated with the new base of about 8,000 students, versus the 9,000 figure used prior to a recent decline. While the college’s budget reflects less money from the state, it does benefit from the restoration of a long-unfunded capital allocation, which was brought back thanks to a new designation focused on science, technology, engineering and math. This allocation totals about $1.2 million. http://www.douglasdispatch.com/news/article_4592d4aa-f708-11e3-a70b-0019bb2963f4.html
