Hassan orders $18M cut from this year's NH budget - ANGELJEAN CHIARAMIDA, Newburyport News

Citing persistent and significant tax revenue shortfalls, N.H. Gov. Maggie Hassan issued an executive order yesterday calling for more than $18 million in cuts from the fiscal year budget ending June 30, 2015, to ensure a balanced budget. According to an announcement released by Hassan’s office yesterday, the New Hampshire Joint Legislative Fiscal Committee approved Hassan’s order in a bipartisan vote. The Granite State budget that ended on June 30, 2014, showed a nearly $20 million surplus, according to Hassan’s press release, due to strict scrutiny and hiring and out-of-state travel freezes. http://www.newburyportnews.com/news/local_news/hassan-orders-m-cut-from-this-year-s-nh-budget/article_f05fd031-c524-53eb-88db-1c42352c29c9.html
