'Placeholder' state budget includes $17M in UA cuts - KATIE MORITZ, JUNEAU EMPIRE

Squeezed by a multimillion-dollar cut to state funding, the three main campuses of the University of Alaska were forced to scale back facilities and programs and shed employees. With the state budget in the works, the schools are steeling themselves for another year of the same. Although the governor’s budget for the University of Alaska system is expected to change when Gov. Bill Walker releases his final version in February, his placeholder budget — drafted by former Gov.
