In the wake of Gov. Scott Walker's budget proposals, UWM's mission may be crippled - David D. Haynes, Journal Sentinel

UWM educates more Wisconsin students than any other UW campus, including Madison, and most of its 28,000 are here on the east side. They are the leading product of this enterprise, a knowledge factory where thousands of students earn degrees and dozens of professors make important discoveries each year. But UWM's ambitious mission may be at risk. Gov. Scott Walker is asking the UW schools to swallow $300 million in state funding cuts over the next two years. UWM's share will be $20 million a year, by far the largest cut in its history. Walker promises autonomy, which he says will allow the university to recoup some of its lost public money. http://www.jsonline.com/news/in-the-wake-of-gov-scott-walkers-budget-proposals-uwms-mission-may-be-crippled-b99443544z1-291716161.html
