Parkland board facing budget woes - Tom Kacich, News Gazette

Whoever is chosen on Feb. 17 to serve on the Parkland College board will jump right into the community college's budget woes on Feb. 18. That's when the board has scheduled a workshop on its ongoing budget problems. Parkland's chief financial officer, Chris Randles, told board members Wednesday night that the community college faces a $1.54 million budget deficit in the current fiscal year, which ends June 30. That deficit, he said, probably will require another tuition increase next year. Board members approved a 6.4 percent tuition increase last February and a similar upswing is possible this year. http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2015-01-23/parkland-board-facing-budget-woes.html
