Chancellor: SIUE enrollment up, but budget cuts a concern - ELIZABETH DONALD, News-Democrat

Enrollment gains paint a rosy picture for Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s future, but the state’s budget crisis looms as a serious problem, according to administrators. Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe held the annual open forum Tuesday for faculty, staff and students to hear updates on budget issues, enrollment, pensions, health care and other issues facing the university. While the enrollment continues to rise at SIUE, serious issues remain as they face a significant proposed cut in state funding, she said.
