CU budget leaders: Higher ed funding uncertain - Sarah Kuta, Daily Camera

Budget leaders at the University of Colorado are projecting a tough road ahead for public higher education institutions in Colorado as the state grapples with a complex set of budget pressures. Gov. John Hickenlooper's 2015-16 budget request includes a $75.6 million increase for public institutions' operating budgets. That amounts to a 10 percent increase, or $16 million, for the CU system if Hickenlooper's request is approved by the legislature. But if nothing changes before 2016-17, Saliman said it's possible CU could see a 6.6 percent cut in state funding, a roughly $4.7 million decrease on the Boulder campus. That would require CU-Boulder to find an extra $9 million in savings or revenues. http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_27580043/higher-ed-funding-uncertain
