AACC braces for state budget cuts - Kelcie Pegher, Capital Gazette

When it comes to Anne Arundel Community College's budget, consider 2015 the Year of the Red Pen. In response to state budget numbers, AACC has passed a $112 million budget, $2 million less than the year before. In January, there was a $693,000 cut from the governor's office to address the $1.2 billion budget deficit forecast for the upcoming fiscal year's budget. In that fiscal year, the community college will lose another $1.25 million. Under the changed formula for community colleges in Gov. Larry Hogan's proposed budget, AACC is among the hardest-hit institutions. So the college's budget was "very challenging" to develop, said James Johnson, a member of the school's board of trustees. http://www.capitalgazette.com/news/ph-ac-cn-aacc-meeting-0225-20150225,0,2167063.story
