Cuts to University of Wisconsin System will hurt the entire state - Sheldon B. Lubar, Journal Sentinel

The UW System has 26 two- and four-year campuses throughout our great state with a mission that is both noble and practical: provide Wisconsin's young people the chance to get an outstanding education. I believe budget cuts of the magnitude being proposed will jeopardize access to that opportunity for the more than 800,000 children enrolled in K-12 schools around the state today. More than 60,000 seniors graduate from Wisconsin high schools each year, and in 2012, nearly 32% of them enrolled at a UW System campus. About 80% of Wisconsin graduates with bachelor's degrees from UW schools and 67% of all graduates with UW bachelor's degrees remain in the state to begin their careers, raise families and contribute to the state's economy. http://www.jsonline.com/news/opinion/cuts-to-university-of-wisconsin-system-will-hurt-the-entire-state-b99469777z1-297884241.html
