Middlesex Community College to close Meriden locations - Brian Zahn, The Middletown Press

Middlesex Community College will be closing its Meriden Center and Meriden Manufacturing Lab at the end of the current semester after 36 years. Officials with the college said the decision was made after Gov. Dannel Malloy alloted $20.5 million less to the Connecticut State Colleges and Universities System in his proposed budget. Anna Wasescha, president of MxCC, said in a statement Wednesday that closing the campus was the only way to accommodate the projected budget gap. “In this fiscal environment the college cannot sustain an operation that represents a net resource drain,” she said.
