Southern Illinois University to hike tuition for incoming freshman - Giacomo Luca, KFVS

The Southern Illinois University System Board voted on Thursday to hike tuition for incoming undergraduate freshman by 5 percent for students attending the Edwardsville and Carbondale campuses. University spokeswoman Rae Goldsmith said this was a decision the board has grappled with over the past several months. “We take pride in being accessible and affordable,” Goldsmith said. “But we also think this tuition increase keeps us in a good space relative to our competitors.” Since Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner proposed 31.5 percent cut state funding for the University. SIU system administrators have been working to find a way to make meet that proposed budget. http://www.kfvs12.com/story/28825338/southern-illinois-university-to-hike-tuition-for-incoming-freshman
