MRU erases $7.4-million budget shortfall with retirement offers, mergers, tuition and fee hikes - TREVOR HOWELL, CALGARY HERALD

Mount Royal University officials have approved an interim fiscal plan that includes a slew of measures — including voluntary retirement offers, amalgamating departments and fee hikes for students — to plug its $7.4-million budget shortfall. University president David Docherty downplayed the impact of amalgamating departments, saying they shouldn’t impact the day-to-day operations of students. “We didn’t eliminate any programs and that was certainly our priority,” Docherty said. http://calgaryherald.com/news/local-news/mru-erases-7-4-million-budget-shortfall-with-retirement-offers-mergers-tuition-and-fee-hikes
