University of Akron unveils budget, but few details - Rick Armon, Beacon Journal

The University of Akron approved a $484 million budget Wednesday for the next academic year that calls for cutbacks, freezing tuition and housing costs for undergraduates, and funding new initiatives. But President Scott Scarborough, who completely restructured the spending plan in his first year, couldn’t — or wouldn’t — immediately say how spending compared to the previous year or where cuts are coming. Asked directly if overall spending is increasing or decreasing, Scarborough replied: “That’s not what’s most important to us. We don’t have to write an article. We just have to run the university.” He said there would be cutbacks, including layoffs, but the university provided no details. http://www.ohio.com/news/break-news/university-of-akron-unveils-budget-but-few-details-1.599076
