Reducing positions helps get SCSU budget in line - Kari Petrie,St. Cloud Times

St. Cloud State University has eliminated about 55 positions as part of efforts to balance its 2016 budget. The university has an early estimated budget deficit of $12.2 million for fiscal year 2016. But that was reduced after the state increased its appropriation and tuition went up 3.9 percent for 2016, bringing the deficit down to $6.9 million. Tuition will not go up in 2017. St. Cloud State President Earl H. Potter III said Friday the rest of the deficit was made up through personnel cuts, enrollment increases and other cuts. The university offered early retirements to 140 faculty members and 15 people accepted those offers. http://www.sctimes.com/story/news/local/2015/06/26/reducing-positions-helps-get-scsu-budget-line/29357131/
