Two state universities have put their faculty on notice that layoffs could be coming at the end of the upcoming academic year, one of them points a finger of blame for that at the need for more state funding. Shippensburg and Cheyney universities sent letters to the faculty union chapter offices on Friday advising them of the potential for layoffs. The State System of Higher Education faculty contract requires universities facing that possibility to notify the union by Aug. 1.
