Southern Illinois community college facing budget gap pays severance to departing president - THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

A southern Illinois community college will pay its outgoing president $290,000 in severance pay at a time when it faces a budget shortfall. The board at John A. Logan College in Carterville voted Wednesday to accept President Mike Dreith's resignation. Carterville is about 110 miles southeast of St. Louis. Dreith declined to comment.
