Black Hawk College board approves cuts to combat budget shortfall - KATRINA LAMANSKY,WQAD

The Board of Trustees at Black Hawk College voted to offer a voluntary early retirement package. The offer is being made in an effort to help remedy a budget shortfall. The Voluntary Termination of Employment Plan was approved at a meeting Thursday, December 17, 2015. The plan will provide eligible employees, those who have 10 or more years of full time service, with a one-time payment of 25% of their current pay, according to a statement from Black Hawk College. The school is seeing a $1.5 million gap in their budget, the statement said. "Eliminating positions is a difficult decision and one we don’t take lightly. These are dedicated and valued people and we appreciate their contributions,” said president Bettie Truitt. http://wqad.com/2015/12/18/black-hawk-college-board-approves-cuts-to-help-budget-shortfall/
