Tough decisions await Parkland - Tom Kacich, News-Gazette

It’s going to be a heck of a 50th anniversary celebration at Parkland College. “We will continue to celebrate despite the bleak budget picture this year, next year and the year after that,” said Tom Ramage, the president at Champaign-based Parkland. “We will certainly survive and we will continue to serve the needs of our community the best we can with the amount of money we have available. Parkland will continue to be as high-quality as is possible.” But the state of Illinois — more specifically the Legislature and the governor that haven’t budgeted any money for higher education this year — isn’t making it easy.
