Amid budget deficit, Chancellor Mike Powers talks realistically about UAF's future - Weston Morrow, News Miner

UAF is facing a $20 million budget shortfall in Fiscal 2016, Powers explained. When put in the context of the shortfalls from Fiscals 2014 and 2015, the university’s three-year shortfall rises to $42 million, and things aren’t expected to end there. The university anticipates a larger shortfall in Fiscal 2017: $26 million. To help balance its budget, UAF already has implemented university-wide cuts, as well as furloughs, hiring restrictions and travel reductions. The university has suspended enrollment in six of its degree programs and plans to merge or significantly alter another 21. http://www.newsminer.com/news/education/amid-budget-deficit-chancellor-mike-powers-talks-realistically-about-uaf/article_f909daca-bf51-11e5-b420-a3f01a61097d.html
