In State of University address, UA president hopeful but realistic about the future - Casey Grove, News Miner

Amid dire financial uncertainty for the University of Alaska, its president delivered a message of both hope and warning in his first State of the University speech in Fairbanks on Tuesday. Jim Johnsen, who was appointed president of Alaska’s statewide university system in July, repeated a sentiment he has conveyed often since taking the job: The university remains strong, but cuts to degree offerings and university jobs are coming.
