Waubonsee Community College working to fill state funding gaps - Sarah Freishtat, Aurora Beacon-News

Waubonsee Community College is taking on responsibility for funding some programs that are supposed to be funded by the state. With the state still without a budget, Waubonsee Community College has decided to spend almost $2 million to keep some state-funded programs up and running. Because of the Illinois budget battle, the school hasn't gotten the state grants that help fund some of its programs, said college spokeswoman Stephanie Wennmacher. The school expects to spend almost $1.9 million to keep several of those programs running through the end of the fiscal year, she said. http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/aurora-beacon-news/news/ct-abn-waubonsee-state-budget-st-0111-20160108-story.html
