Furloughs, layoffs result from Illinois budget crisis - WAND-TV

1,000 of Northeastern Illinois University's school employees will be required to take one furlough day per week starting next week. The decision comes one day after Southern Illinois University announced it expects to lay off several hundred employees if it loses over $45 million in state funding for fiscal year 2017. SIU President Randy Dunn said if Governor Bruce Rauner's proposed 20 percent reduction in state university funding is enacted, SIU could lose 180 faculty and staff positions in Carbondale, 100 jobs at the School of Medicine in Springfield, and nearly 140 positions in Edwardsville. http://www.wandtv.com/story/31446180/furloughs-layoffs-result-from-illinois-budget-crisis
