Western Illinois University plans to make budget cuts, eliminate 100 positions - WEEK

Western Illinois University plans to cut $20 million over the next two fiscal years due to the budget crisis, and possible reductons to state appropriated funding for higher education. University President Jack Thomas says the university will cut 100 jobs, implement hiring freezes, reduce hours of various offices, reduce contracts for select administrative positions, and close or combine selected offices.
