St. Cloud State University will eliminate a number of intercollegiate athletic programs due to budget shortfalls and changes in the athletic department. St. Cloud State University will eliminate a number of intercollegiate athletic programs due to budget shortfalls and changes in the athletic department. The cuts include men’s and women’s tennis, women’s Nordic skiing, men’s indoor and outdoor track and field and men’s cross country. SCSU Athletic Director Heather Weems made the announcement Wednesday morning at a department meeting. SCSU’s intercollegiate sports now drops from 23 to 17. The cuts take effect at the end of the 2015-2016 school year.
