New U Wyoming president must make $23 million in budget cuts before July 1 - Ilene Olson, Powell Tribune

Laurie Nichols knew she would have challenges when she accepted the position as president of the University of Wyoming in December. But she didn’t know then that she would face a whole new set of challenges when she came on board this month. Since Nichols was hired, the rumblings of economic downturn in Wyoming were felt at the university level, and UW’s financial ground was shaken to the tune of a $35 million funding cut.
