NMSU athletics makes cuts to operating budget - JILLIAN FERTIG, KFOX14

The New Mexico State University athletic department has been forced to make over $400,000 in cuts to its operating budget. A ticket revenue shortfall, student fee cuts and a mid-year reduction by the state has forced coaches to make some hard decisions, according to the athletic department. KFOX14 spoke with athletic director Mario Moccia to talk about some of the changes being made because of the cuts. "Once football is coming to an end and basketball is beginning, you start doing some forecasting, and that's when we knew, hey, we're going to have some revenue shortfalls," said Moccia. There was a $250,000 shortfall in ticket revenue, a $154,400 cut to student fees because of lower enrollment and $20,400 was withheld by the state, which came up short with funding. http://kfoxtv.com/news/local/nmsu-athletics-makes-cuts-to-operating-budget
