UW president discusses budget cuts, diversity and leadership - Heather Richards, Caspar Star Tribune

In a recent interview University of Wyoming President Laurie Nichols spoke about the need to cut purposefully, the value of greater diversity at UW and how strong leadership can bridge the various interests and demands on the school. But Nichols’ immediate concern is addressing the budget crisis, she said. An ongoing program review has earmarked close to 50 programs for potential elimination, to the ire of some department heads. Administrators are looking at productivity and size, numbers of graduates, value in Wyoming’s economic future and overall quality. For Nichols, an important criterion for determining which programs are eliminated will be their importance to the mission of UW. http://trib.com/news/local/education/uw-president-discusses-budget-cuts-diversity-and-leadership/article_d067b59c-d496-538e-a924-5f73b822ec80.html
