Layoffs, millions in budget cuts coming to SIUC - Brandon Merano, WSIL

Despite some stopgap funding, SIU Carbondale will cut more than $20 million from its budget. To do that the university will lay off 17 faculty and permanently eliminate 155 vacant positions and 125 graduate assistantships. "It puts us in a very difficult situation over the long term," said Interim Morris Library Dean Howard Carter.
