More Budget Cuts For Colleges? - KXNews

Contingency plans are in place to meet budget cuts. That's what Minot State University's Dr. Steve Shirley had to say about the state's budget shortfall. In May, Governor Jack Dalrymple called for a number of state agencies to have a plan for 90 percent of their current budgets next biennium. For Minot State University, a ten percent cut translates to 4.6 million dollars. There were cuts made in February to meet the first 4.5 percent allotment, which went into effect immediately. Dr. Shirley says those cuts will apply to the 10 percent biennium cut that goes into effect next July. However, he says the next state budget forecast is due this month, and the university is preparing for the possibility of a new round of immediate cuts. http://www.kxnet.com/story/32409447/more-budget-cuts-for-colleges
