Study: MTSU faculty pay well below average Brian Wilson, Daily News Journal

The publication of a study from the University Provost’s office obtained by The Daily News Journal gives concrete numbers and a dollar figure to the issue. After evaluating the salaries of faculty at peer institutions across the country, researchers found that 89 percent of MTSU professors needed a pay raise to meet the average salary of others teaching their subjects. To do that, the university would need a new $6.9 million, without benefits, to pay faculty. On average, each tenured or tenure-track faculty member would receive an annual $9,460 each year, the study estimated. While university officials want to close the gap in faculty pay, a plan to find the funds cannot immediately come into place. http://www.dnj.com/story/news/2016/07/08/study-mtsu-faculty-pay-well-below-average/86683984/
