Performance-based funding for UW still a possibility in next budget - NICO SAVIDGE, LaCrosse Tribune

A possible funding increase for the University of Wisconsin System that would be tied to UW’s performance in certain metrics is still on the table for the next state budget, a spokesman for Gov. Scott Walker says. As Walker also touts a plan to extend the freeze on in-state tuition at UW, university officials warn keeping that cap in place without increasing the System’s budget threatens UW’s future and could ultimately drive up college costs. Walker told UW and most other state agencies in a letter last week that they should send his office proposals for the 2017-19 budget that don’t include any new funding, saying, “All agencies should assume there will be zero growth” in state appropriations. http://lacrossetribune.com/news/state-and-regional/performance-based-funding-for-uw-still-a-possibility-in-next/article_d7df4f6b-21f9-5d79-8f9d-74864b851879.html
