On Monday, University of Nebraska President Hank Bounds sent an email to all NU employees to outline strategies the university is taking in anticipation of a possible reduction of its state funding. The university put into effect Monday a hiring freeze and travel restrictions for university leaders across the NU system. These decisions were made in reaction to a nearly $1 billion budget gap forecast for the state government next year and a decrease in state revenue for the next two years.
