UO trustees worry that flat state funding, increased costs could lead to large tuition increases - Diane Dietz, The Register-Guard

Gov. Kate Brown plans to give the state’s public universities a flat $667 million for the next two-year budget cycle. If that’s the final figure, tuition increases are likely to exceed 5 percent, according to discussion at the UO Board of Trustees meeting in Portland on Friday. “From a tuition perspective, this is really scary,” said Will Paustian, a UO freshman and student representative on the UO board. “I’m not going to sit here and act like I don’t understand the numbers. I do understand, and it’s nobody’s fault. None of us want to raise tuition. But I felt obligated to say that this is just really scary.” http://registerguard.com/rg/news/local/35051511-75/uo-trustees-worry-that-flat-state-funding-increased-costs-could-lead-to-large-tuition-increases.html.csp
