Increasing enrollment is top priority for University of Wyoming - Seth Klamann, Caspar Star-Tribune

The University of Wyoming’s No. 1 priority is growing its enrollment in the midst of a two-year downturn that’s seen the university lose $42 million in state funding in this budget cycle, President Laurie Nichols told lawmakers Friday. Speaking before the Joint Appropriations Committee, she and other university officials spoke of UW’s effort to trim its budget during the energy decline. In November, the university announced more than $10 million in budget reductions for the next fiscal year, on top of more than $19 million in permanent cuts that are already rolling into effect. At a listening session in Casper earlier this month, Nichols said she thinks the university has done all it can to cut costs. http://trib.com/news/local/education/increasing-enrollment-is-top-priority-for-university-of-wyoming/article_94eeee99-31bf-5a5e-b6ab-9e38ae2e28ea.html
